It ensures gas flow is immediately stopped when there’s a fault—like flame failure, power loss, or emergency shutdown. In most combustion systems, the solenoid valve is fail-safe closed (it shuts when power is lost), which prevents unburned gas from accumulating.

- Burner management systems (BMS)

This allows precise sequencing during startup and shutdown (e.g., purge → ignition → main gas on).
